Located at the foot of the majestic Sainte Baume massif, in the heart of Provence Verte, Golf Sainte Baume offers an exceptional natural setting for golf enthusiasts.
Our 18-hole course enjoys a temperate climate in the low season, making it a great place to play golf all year round, but it also requires very special attention for its upkeep. With the arrival of the fine spring weather, playing conditions gradually improve, allowing golfers to rediscover a natural course in optimal conditions.
Rigorous maintenance for a quality course
Since the beginning of the year, the course has received significant rainfall, representing more than a quarter of the annual total. While this rainfall has mainly provided maintenance challenges, it has also enriched the soil and prepared the course for an ideal golfing season.
In early March, the first mechanical operation was carried out to aerate the soil. This essential step facilitated the sowing of an initial variety of grass, specially chosen for its resistance to cool temperatures and capable of developing at as low as 5°C. As temperatures gradually rise, a second seeding phase will be carried out with a grass adapted to higher temperatures, between 16 and 18°C.

As well as the weather, the Golf Sainte Baume course faces additional challenges from local wildlife, particularly wild boar and crows. These animals can cause significant damage to certain areas of the course, disrupting grass growth. Unfortunately, this damage cannot be repaired immediately, as grass regrowth is a delicate process. As long as temperatures are not sufficiently high, regrowth remains limited. We therefore have to wait for ideal conditions before sowing, to allow the vegetation to stabilise before the heat of summer sets in.
Our maintenance team works in harmony with nature to ensure a quality course. Rather than forcing the elements, we favour an approach that respects natural cycles. Patience is required to let nature take its course and ensure optimum germination of the seeds. Once the second sowing has been carried out, it should take 20 days for the young shoots to emerge, subject to favourable weather conditions.
A course, evolving itinerary
While waiting for the turf to fully mature, our grounds team works daily to maintain and enhance the course’s surroundings. Regular mowing and care of the green areas ensure that the course looks its best and is as comfortable as possible to play on. Our commitment is to offer you a resplendent course that lives up to your expectations and the quality standards of the Golf Sainte Baume – Resonance Golf Collection.
Thanks to this rigorous maintenance and respect for natural cycles, the course wakes up, takes on new colours and gradually regains all its splendour and optimum playability. Whether you’re an amateur or an experienced golfer, you’ll be able to take full advantage of the green surroundings and a course with optimal playing conditions.
